Mamfe Town - Government Practicing School Mamfe Town Group 1 (G. P. S. Mamfe Town) Project Proposal
Porject Cost: ....€
Project Description:
G. P. S. Mamfe Town is located in Mamfe, Manyu Division, in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. Although Mamfe is the capital of the Manyu Division of the Southwest Region of Cameroon, it is very underdeveloped in terms of roads and infrastructure, as can be seen be the dilapidated buildings of Government Practicing School Mamfe Town Group 1.
There are no permanent classrooms or other facilities in the school. The children are learning in dilapidated structures without proper windows or doors, meaning during rainy season the wind and rain can often disturb their lessons.
This school is in need of significant support in order for it to become a safe and secure environment in which the children are able to learn and reach their potential. There are not enough good, functional sanitary facilities at the school, forcing the children and teachers to share just a few unhygienic and dilapidated facilities. This often means that girls feel too embarrassed to come to school, particularly during their menstrual periods, because of the lack of adequate functional sanitary facilities. This can result in them missing school for up to a week every month, so they fall behind in their lessons. Girls do not want to come to school during their periods as they do not have the privacy they need and the hygienic facilities to cater for their needs. Parents often do not encourage their children to go to school, particularly their daughters. Challenges that are particular to girls are seldom addressed by the parents or teachers and so they often do not feel encouraged or supported in their learning.
These classrooms are unsafe and in desperate need of renovation and new structures.
The foundations of the buildings structures are completely destroyed and from the pictures one can observe that it is very risky for the school children to even sit in classrooms that have such foundation.

Expected output:
The output of this project will depend on three parts: project management, labor, and monitoring. The project monitoring and management will be conducted by African Bridge Builders e.V. (ABB) in collaboration with the Head department of G.P.S Mamfe Town Group 1. The labor will be carried out by the people from the local community, thereby providing employment opportunities to them.
Expected results:
- With the sustained support from donors and fundraisers, we can build a school for the children of G.P.S Mamfe Town Group 1 to ensure the safety and comfort of the children, enabling them to make the most of their education.
- More and more children will get quality education – ongoing activity.
- Community will be developed and the lives of the people will also improve.
- Children’s desks, teachers furniture and textbooks for the classrooms.
- The new school buildings at G. P. S. Mamfe Town Group 1, which include clean drinking water and toilets, will help to reduce the outbreak of diseases such as diarrhea. Students will also be taught about the importance of sanitation and hygiene practices. It is hoped that the wider community will understand the link between clean water and sanitation facilities in the new school and reduced outbreaks of disease and take a stronger interest in health and hygiene practices.
- A block of toilets for girls and sanitary towels so that girls continue to come to school when they are on their periods.
- Ensure the challenges girls face are understood and addressed by parents and teachers.
Conclusion:
This project is designed to produce maximum results. The vast majority of money will be used in purchasing building supplies. The local overhead costs are kept to the minimum. Employment opportunities will be created for the local community.
Every bit helps, give what you can!
